My Cat Bongo Was Put To Sleep Last Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013

More devastating news! It’s been barely 2 months since my cat Storm passed away. Now, Bongo is gone too! 😦

I feel like I’m in a terrible nightmare and can’t wake up to see my two cats on the bedroom floor waiting for their breakfast.

Last Friday night, February 22, I noticed that Bongo wasn’t able to urinate into the litter box. This went on all evening. I called my petsitter friend, Cindy, and told her Bongo’s symptoms. She told me to take him to Angell Memorial in Jamaica Plain, MA, which is a short distance away from my place.

It was sad. Bongo’s bladder was blocked. I got in contact with my older brother, James, in Maryland and told him the situation because I did not have the money for the needed operation. My brother told me that he had a cat that had the same problem as Bongo’s and had the operation. His cat only lived a few more months.

Reluctantly, after listening to my brother and the vet, I allowed them to put Bongo to sleep. I held Bongo for a couple of hours before the deed was done.

It’s very sad because I adopted Bongo in September 2008 when he was 5 years old. Too short a time for the both of us!

I’m very heartbroken by all of this. Both of my cats gone in two months time! For the first time in 20 years, I’m living completely alone. 😦

Rest in peace, Bongo!

My Cat Storm Passed Away Last Saturday 12/29/12

Last Saturday after I got home from my flight back to Boston, my cat Storm was very ill and passed away before I could get her to a vet. She was 17 1/2 years old. I had her since September 1995 when she was just a kitten. She was (my black cat) Cap’s younger sister. Cap passed away in July 2008.

Bongo, my other cat, and I are very upset about her sudden death. We miss her very much. 😦

New Distraction: I got a Cold!

How annoying!  I’ve been feeling sick the last couple of days, but I’m not going to let it stop me from enjoying next weekend’s alumni weekend at Emerson!  I bought some more cough syrup tonight and some chicken soup!  I’ve been resting a bit, but it’s hard when you have Asperger’s Syndrome and live by yourself with two cats that are very needy and vie for your attention.

Memorial Day weekend was good before I got sick.  I saw a bunch of movies at the Brattle and went to a BBQ on Sunday.  What fun!

The Canadian rocker from Bachman Turner Overdrive and the Guess Who is celebrating his birthday today. Many Happy Returns, Randy!

Also, celebrating a birthday is my orange tabby, Bongo! Two years ago today, I brought home a five year old abandoned cat from the animal shelter. So, Happy 7th Birthday, Bongo!

Remembering Cap, My Black Cat!

Hard to believe that it’s been two years since Cap, my black cat, was put to sleep.  I came home from work and he was very ill.  I rushed him to the animal hospital in Jamaica Plain, but the vet couldn’t keep him alive.  I held him for an hour before the vet put him to sleep.  Really broke my heart and my other cat, Storm, was very devastated over the loss of Cap.

I adopted Cap (named after the comic book superhero called Captain America) back in January 1993 and had him until July 7, 2008.  Those were wonderful years with him.

Remembering Smokey, My 1st Cat

Smokey was my first cat and my best friend when I was growing up just outside of Washington, DC.  We loved each other very much.  He was put down on this day back in 1993.  Still miss you very much, Smokey!

Remembering Cap a Year Later

It’s hard to believe that’s it has been a year tonight that I had no other choice but to put my black cat, Cap (short for “Captain America”) to sleep. I had just come home from work and found him underneath the dinning table convulsing with his tongue hanging out his mouth. I rushed him to the nearby animal hospital in Jamaica Plain.

Unfortunately, no one at the animal hospital there couldn’t save him. They said it was a problem with his liver which was causing the seizures. I had told them that Cap was fine that morning and wasn’t showing any signs of distress in the last few days of his life. The veterinarian said Cap had lost his eyesight because of the seizures he was having. She let me hold him for a hour before she put him to sleep shortly after 9 p.m.

The past year has been tough for me and Storm. I feel sad tonight that one of my favorite singers, Michael Jackson, had his funeral and memorial service today in Los Angeles. I still can’t believe that he’s dead like Cap. I wish Cap was here to comfort me.

Remembering Smokey, My First Cat

Hard to believe it’s been 16 years since Smokey, my very first cat, was put to sleep.  He had been suffering from cancer and arthritis for months.  He was also partially paralyzed.  Very heartbreaking for me to put him to sleep.  I cried for weeks.

He was a great best friend from childhood to early adulthood for me.  That was great because, during those years, I had no idea that I have Asperger’s Syndrome which is a neurological disorder.  He loved my company.
