Happy Birthday,
Alfred Christian
(July 13, 1961 to June 19, 1980)
My late brother Alfred would have been 51 years old today. I miss him a lot. He was very different from me. He didn’t have Asperger’s Syndrome like me so he was able to socialize expertly with the other kids at school. He died from his head injury a few days after getting into a car accident (his Camaro hit a tree head-on) on Father’s Day 1980s. An awful tragedy!
Too many times have I wondered what my life would be like if he hadn’t been died. Things would have been different for me for sure. His death made it difficult for me to get a driver’s license, even though I had enrolled in driver’s ed in high school just before he had his fatal accident. I was so terrified of driving that it took until I was in my early 30s when I finally got my driver’s license. My having Asperger’s Syndrome had nothing to do with my delay in getting a license at age 31. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s when I was 37 years old.
Sure hope Alfred is having a good time in Heaven on his birthday!
